What to expect

Day 1: Johannesburg to the Kruger Park

Transfer from Johannesburg to Hazyview, check in and have a light lunch at the lodge, followed by a late afternoon Sunset/Night safari, and dinner at the lodge. (Light Lunch and Dinner Included)

Day 2: Full Day Safari in the Kruger National Park

The safari starts before sunrise, with breakfast and lunch in the park at rest camps, returning to the lodge late in the afternoon, swim and relax followed by dinner at the Lodge. (Breakfast Pack and Dinner Included)

The Kruger National Park covers over 2 000 000 Hectares, and Kurt Safari was one of the very first operators to introduce full-day Kruger Park safaris. This gives clients a chance to see a larger part of the Kruger, compared to short 3-hour safaris which must remain close to the camps, and results in safaris sticking to the same area each day. The extended time made possible by a full-day safari increases the chances of seeing more wildlife.

Day 3: Full Day Safari in the Kruger National Park

The safari starts before sunrise, with breakfast and lunch in the park at rest camps, your guide will safari in a different region then the day before, returning to the lodge late in the afternoon, swim and relax followed by dinner at the lodge. (Breakfast pack and Dinner Included)

Day 4: Morning Safari in the Kruger National Park

Again we depart before sunrise and we spend 6 hours on safari, we return to the lodge followed by the transfer to Johannesburg. (Breakfast Pack Included)

*90% of our clients on 3-day safaris encounter all the Big 5.

We depart at around 16:00 pm for a Sunset/Night Safari in the Kruger National Park before returning to the lodge at approximately 19:30 or 20:00 pm for a scrumptious dinner, and a good night’s rest.

Day 2: Full Day Open Vehicle Safari in the Kruger National Park

(Breakfast & Dinner Included. Lunch will be on your own account)

All of our safaris start before the sun rises, as the early morning hours are the best time for spotting wildlife, especially predators. We enter the gates not knowing what to expect and the guide will choose the best areas of the park to explore on this morning’s game drive. During this morning’s adventure, we will keep a look out for all sorts of animals, including the Big 5.

The lodge will arrange breakfast packs and after about 3 hours of driving, your guide will stop for breakfast and bathroom break, and there is also a chance to get a coffee. We then continue on with the safari. The Kruger Park is home to a variety of eco zones and each one has a different kind of wildlife to see. During the safari, we will visit rivers and watering holes as well as the vast open plains and the park’s Bushveld regions.

We then stop for lunch at a rest camp, where this meal will be on your own account. While here there will be time to do some curio shopping or to indulge in a cold beer! The guide will then continue with the safari, as you make your way back towards the lodge. We arrive back at between 15:30 and 16:00 pm, with enough time to relax, swim and have a great dinner.

Day 3: Full Day Open Vehicle Safari in the Kruger National Park

(Breakfast & Dinner Included. Lunch will be on your own account)

Today we once again depart from the lodge before sunrise. No safari is ever the same, and each day is special. Your guide will choose a different part of the park to explore and we will look for predators as well as all of the other types of animals that are common to the region.

After about 3 hours of looking for wildlife, the guide will stop for breakfast, giving you a chance to stretch your legs, go to the bathroom and get a cup of coffee. Breakfast packs will be provided by the lodge. We then continue with the safari your safari, visiting rivers, water holes, lookout points and other areas of interest, all while keeping an eye out for the park’s magnificent wildlife.

We then stop for lunch at a rest camp. The Kruger has various rest camps, all with cafes and some with restaurants. The guide will choose the camp. While in the camp you can visit the shops, do some curio shopping or enjoy a cold beer! The guide will usually choose a camp different from the day before. The safari then continues as you make your way back towards the lodge. We arrive at around 15:30 and 16:00 pm, with enough time to relax, swim and have a delicious dinner.

DAY 4: Morning Safari and Transfer Back to Johannesburg

(Breakfast Included)

This is the last safari of your trip and again we depart from the lodge before sunrise. During the course of the morning, we will have another packed breakfast at one of the rest camps or at a picnic site. On this day the guide will focus on finding animals we couldn’t find on the first 2 Kruger Park safaris. The Kruger National Park has 148 mammal species and over 500 bird species. So, there is always lots to see and photograph. We especially hope to see lion and leopard as they are most active in the early mornings.

After a short breakfast and coffee stop, we will continue with the safari, and we will return to the lodge at around 12:00 pm.

Here you say goodbye to your guide and freshen up before you make the journey back to Johannesburg. Clients will be collected by the shuttle at between 12:00 and 12:30 pm, and we will return to Johannesburg’s OR Tambo Airport shuttle terminal and lodges within a 5 km radius, arriving between 17:00 and 18:00 pm.

NB: Clients flying out of OR Tambo International on the last day should please not book their flight any earlier than 20.00 pm for Domestic and 21.00 pm for International flights.
