Located near Hazyview, Umbhaba Eco Lodge is a 4-star property featuring stylish, modern accommodation. Day 1: Transfer to the Kruger National Park & an Evening Game Drive

We arrive in Hazyview around midday.

At around 15:45, the group departs for a Sunset–Night Safari. The afternoon safari is bathed in the golden hour’s perfect light, the ideal conditions for wildlife viewing.

In winter, the earlier sunset allows for longer night drives, while summer guests enjoy stunning evening skies. As temperatures drop, wildlife becomes more active, and the guide will look for the best possible sightings. The safari ends around 20:00, returning guests to the lodge for a hearty dinner and a restful night.

Day 2: Full Day Open Vehicle Safari in the Kruger National Park

All safaris begin before sunrise when wildlife is most active, and the park is cool. The guide leads guests to the best areas for spotting the Big 5, plains game, and predators.

Breakfast packs are provided by the lodge, with a stop about three hours into the safari for a meal, coffee, and a bathroom break. The safari continues through the Kruger, and the route includes rivers, watering holes, plains, and bushveld regions, each with unique wildlife viewing opportunities.

Lunch takes place at a rest camp (own account), with time for curio shopping or a cold drink. The safari then heads back toward the lodge, arriving between 15:30 and 16:00, leaving guests time to relax, swim, and enjoy dinner.

Day 3: Full Day Panorama Route Tour

Guests will explore the highlights of the Panorama Route, including God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Blyde River Canyon (the world’s 3rd largest canyon), Lisbon Falls, the 3 Rondavels, and the town of Graskop.
After a 45-minute drive from Hazyview, the route climbs nearly 1 000 meters into the Northern Drakensberg Mountains.

Lunch and a chance to explore curio shops take place in Graskop, known for its famous pancakes. The group returns to the lodge between 16:00 and 17:00, where guests can enjoy a drink, swim, and dinner before preparing for the following day’s early morning Kruger safari.

Day 4: Morning Safari – Afternoon at Leisure

The day starts with a sunrise safari along a new route, in search for wildlife we might have missed on the previous days.

With its vast network of roads, routes change by season to give you the best sightings and display the park’s beauty.

We return to the lodge around 11 am for a relaxed afternoon, and you can swim, stroll, sample local beers, or simply enjoy the warm African weather. A light lunch and tasty dinner will be served at the lodge.

Day 5: Morning Safari and Transfer back to Johannesburg

On the final safari, you’ll enjoy a leisurely drive through the bush, keeping an eye out for elusive leopards.
After a short breakfast and coffee stop, the safari continues before returning to the lodge around 11:00. Guests can freshen up and say goodbye to their guide before being collected by the shuttle at 12:30 for the journey back to Johannesburg, arriving at OR Tambo International Airport or nearby lodges between 17:00 and 18:00.

Clients flying out of OR Tambo International on the last day of their trip should please not book they flight any earlier than 20:00 pm for Domestic Flights and 21:00 pm for International Flights.
You’ll be dropped off at the airport or at a lodge within a 5km radius of the airport.

Getting There

  • We depart for the Kruger from Johannesburg at 7:15 am.
  • Clients are collected from various lodges and hotels within a 5 km radius of the OR Tambo International Airport between 6:30 am and 6:45 am, or from the OR Tambo International Airport shuttle and bus terminal between 6:45 and 7:00 am.
  • Clients flying into Nelspruit (Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport) will be transferred to their lodge in Hazyview at no additional cost.
  • Accommodation before the tour starts cannot be arranged.
  • Please confirm your pickup details the day before the tour, by sending an email to online@kurtsafari.com.
