Day By Day
Day 1 – Victoria Falls
This tour starts in Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls Town, a popular tourist town that sits right at the edge of the Victoria Falls, one of Africa’s greatest attractions and one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World.
You will be transferred to your hotel, which is about half an hour away from Victoria Falls International Airport, where you’ll check in and relax for a while, catching your breath after the long trip.
In the distance, you’ll hear the falls, and after an afternoon spent resting, you’ll head out later in the day to go on a guided walk through the rainforest that runs opposite to the falls while also enjoying the view of these magnificent cascades that have captured the imagination of millions of travellers.
In the evening, dinner will be on your own account.

Day 2 – Chobe National Park
The day begins with a slow breakfast followed by a transfer from the falls into neighbouring Botswana.
You’ll cross the border and head to Kasane, a tourist town that sits right on the edge of Chobe National Park, one of Botswana’s most iconic safari destinations.
You’ll arrive at your lodge later in the afternoon and have some time to slow down and settle in before you set out on a Chobe River boat cruise. Unlike a conventional game drive, on this cruise you’ll float down the river, and along the way you’ll spot some of the wildlife that call the park home.
Chobe has one of the biggest elephant populations, as well as an abundance of crocodiles, hippos, all sorts of antelope, and other creatures. It is one of the best places in Africa to have a safari, and gliding down the river, looking out for animals while also watching the sun set, is one of the ideal ways to experience the park.
After ample time on the river, you’ll head back to the lodge for dinner and an evening spent enjoying the sounds of Africa.

Day 3 – Kasane & the Zambezi Region
You’ll have another day of wildlife viewing, but this time, just across the border, in Namibia.
After a delightful breakfast, you’ll leave Kasane as your tour takes you to Namibia’s Zambezi Region, once known as the Caprivi Strip.
The area is green and abundant with both wildlife and birds. For some guests, it is a bit of an unexpected place when compared to the rest of Namibia that is so dry.
Once you arrive at your lodge, which sits alongside a river, treats you to the best views and is an utterly peaceful spot to relax, you’ll have the rest of the afternoon to catch your breath.
Later on in the evening, you’ll be treated to a scrumptious dinner followed by an evening spent listening to the sounds of nature.

Day 4 – Okavango River
Today’s route takes you through the wildlife-rich Bwabwata region, where the road winds this way and that beneath tall Kalahari apple-leaf trees and open floodplains stretch out almost as far as the eye can see.
By mid-afternoon you’re at the river’s edge, getting your first glimpse of the Chobe River, glinting in the sunlight.
Arriving at your riverside lodge, you’re welcomed with a cool drink and the soothing sound of water lapping gently at the reeds below.
The afternoon is yours to settle in and simply soak up the moment.
You’ll round off the evening with dinner beneath the stars, and the murmur of the river close by, before retiring to rest, ready for all that tomorrow will bring.
Day 5 – Mahango National Park
Your day will start with a refreshing breakfast boat cruise along the Okavango River.
With nothing else but birdsong, the light ripple of water against the hull, and perhaps the surprise of a hippo rising nearby to distract you, you’ll glide along the peaceful waters, keeping an eye out for the crocodiles that can often be seen resting along the banks and for the wonderful array of birdlife that calls this part of the river home, a true haven for anyone who loves the natural world.
As the day goes on, you’ll make your way into the picturesque Mahango National Park, one of Namibia’s lesser-known but thoroughly beautiful wildlife destinations.
Though modest in size compared to Etosha, this park is known for its abundance of wildlife and for having some utterly spectacular scenery within its borders.
As you wind through it, you’ll spot elephant herds moving almost silently through the bush, buffalo gathering near the water’s edge, and antelope grazing across the open plains.
Mahango also has an incredible birdlife, with over 450 species, making it a lovely stop for keen birdwatchers and casual nature lovers alike.
When the sun begins to set, you’ll head back to the lodge for dinner and a quiet evening spent enjoying the sounds of the wilderness around you.
Day 6 – Tsumeb
The day will start with a lazy breakfast before you leave the hotel and start the road trip south, heading through Namibia.
The drive will include some of the best scenery, and along the way you’ll see the stunning, natural riverine woodlands and endless golden savannahs.
As the kilometres drift by, you’ll start seeing small settlements, distant mountain ranges and clear, wide-open skies.
You will arrive in Tsumeb later in the afternoon. This is a small historic mining town with a story as rich as the earth beneath it.
Early prospectors nicknamed it the “green hill” for its almost oasis-like qualities in an otherwise dry region.
Tsumeb is also one of the most mineralogically rich sites on earth, having yielded almost 350 various types of minerals since mining began in 1907, dozens of which have never been found anywhere else.
You’ll settle into the Minen Hotel, where a delicious dinner and a peaceful evening await, the perfect prelude to the busy days ahead.
Day 7 – Etosha National Park
Etosha National Park is Namibia’s premier safari destination, and today you’ll be travelling through it, spotting all kinds of wildlife along the way.
The day starts with breakfast, after which you will head into Etosha. Once through the gates, you will find yourself surrounded by pale salt pans, open grasslands and life-giving waterholes that draw an astonishing array of wildlife.
Etosha takes its name from an Oshiwambo phrase meaning “Great White Place”, a nod to its shimmering centrepiece pan, which is one of the largest in Africa, so big it can be seen from space.
As you make your way through the park, you’ll spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, a variety of antelope and even a few predators, like lions, all of which live throughout the park.
By evening, you’ll check in at your lodge just outside Etosha, and settle in for a hearty dinner and one last peaceful night beneath Namibia’s star-filled skies.
Day 8 – Departure
The day starts with breakfast, and then you’ll be driving the long road back to Windhoek, seeing more of the country’s sights along the way.
This tour comes to an end in Windhoek.

Write a review8 Days Victoria Falls, Botswana & Namibia
Do I need a visa to visit Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia?
Visa requirements vary by nationality, so it is worth checking directly with the relevant consulate before you travel. Many nationalities, including South African, British, American and most European passport holders, can obtain a visa on arrival for Zimbabwe, while Botswana and Namibia are visa-free for a wide range of visitors on short stays. As border rules can change, a quick check a few weeks before departure is the safest approach.
When is the best time to see Victoria Falls at its fullest?
The falls are at their most powerful between March and May, following the rainy season, when the spray can be seen for miles around. From September to December, the water level drops considerably, revealing more of the rock face and allowing activities such as swimming at Devil’s Pool, while wildlife viewing tends to improve across the wider region as animals gather near the remaining water sources.
Which currency is used in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia?
Zimbabwe operates largely on the US dollar, so it is worth carrying small denomination notes for everyday purchases. Botswana uses the pula, and Namibia has its own dollar, which is pegged to and used interchangeably with the South African rand. Card payments are widely accepted at hotels and lodges, though cash is useful for markets, tips and smaller roadside stops.
Do I need any vaccinations or malaria precautions for this region?
This route passes through malaria risk areas, particularly around the Chobe, Kwando and Okavango Rivers, so antimalarial medication is generally recommended and should be discussed with a travel doctor or clinic well ahead of departure. Routine vaccinations should also be kept up to date, and a good insect repellent is worth packing for the riverside evenings.
How many days should I allow for a trip through Victoria Falls, Chobe and Namibia?
A minimum of seven to eight days allows enough time to properly settle into each destination rather than rushing between them, which is why this tour follows that pace. Travellers with more time available may wish to extend their stay in Etosha or add a few days in Windhoek or along the Namibian coast before flying home.
