What to expect

Day 1: Johannesburg to the Kruger Park

Transfer from Johannesburg to Hazyview, check in and have a light lunch at the Lodge, followed by a late afternoon Sunset /Night Kruger Park safari and dinner at the lodge. (Light Lunch and Dinner Included)

Day 2: Full Day Safari in the Kruger National Park

The safari starts before sunrise, with breakfast and lunch enjoyed in the park at a rest camp. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon for some relaxing downtime, followed by dinner at the lodge. (Breakfast pack and Dinner Included)

Day 3: Morning Safari in the Kruger National Park

Again, we depart before sunrise and we spend a full 6 hours on safari before we return to the lodge. After our return, we transfer back to Johannesburg. (Breakfast Pack Included)

The Kruger National Park covers over 2 000 000 Hectares, and Kurt Safari was one of the first operators to introduce Full Day Kruger Park safaris. Compared to short 3-hour safaris, which must remain close to the camps and as such result in driving through the same areas on every safari, a full day trip into the Kruger allows more time for exploration. The extended time also increases the chance of seeing more wildlife as we traverse the various ecological zones.

90% of our clients on 3-day safaris encounter all of the Big 5.

Clients can fly directly into Skukuza Airport in the Kruger National Park or to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and be collected by a Kurt Safari guide at no additional cost.

Please confirm your pick-up details the day before the tour by sending an email to online@kurtsafari.com.

Please note that departures are shared. We will travel directly to our lodge in Hazyview and arrive between 11:30 am and 12:00 pm. Guests will have time to relax, unpack and enjoy a light lunch, before enjoying a swim or a walk around the beautiful lodge gardens or the walking trail. We depart at around 16:00 pm for a Sunset/ Night safari in the Kruger National Park before returning to the lodge at approximately 19:30 to 20:00 pm for a lovely dinner, and a good night’s rest.

Day 2: Full Day Open Vehicle Safari in the Kruger National Park

(Breakfast & Dinner Included. Lunch on your own account)

All safaris start before sunrise as this is the best time of the day to enter the park. Not knowing what to expect, after a short drive to the park, we enter the park gates and your guide will take you into an area that is popular for spotting wildlife. An early morning start will also give you a better opportunity to spot predators.

The lodge will arrange breakfast packs and after about 3 hours of driving in the park, your guide will stop for breakfast, a bathroom break, and a chance to grab a coffee. We then continue with the safari, exploring the Kruger’s various eco-zones, each of which has different wildlife. We also visit rivers and watering holes as well as plains and Bushveld regions, all areas within the park that boast large wildlife populations.

For lunch, we stop at a rest camp. This meal will be on your account. While at the camp there will be time to do some curio shopping or to indulge in a refreshing cold beer! The guide will then continue with the safari, as you make your way back towards the lodge. We arrive back at around 15:30 or 16:00 pm, with enough time to time to relax, swim and have a great dinner.

Day 3: Morning Safari and Transfer back to Johannesburg

(Breakfast Included)

On this day you will have your last safari for the trip. Again, we depart from the lodge before sunrise, and we will tuck into another packed breakfast at one of the rest camps or picnic spots. The guide will focus on finding animals we could not find on the first 2 safaris, hoping especially to catch sight of lion and leopard, as they are most active in the early mornings. The Kruger National Park has 148 mammal species and over 500 bird species. So there is lots to see and photograph.

After a short breakfast and coffee stop, we will continue with the safari, returning to the lodge at around 12 pm.

Here you say goodbye to your guide and freshen up before the journey back to Johannesburg. Clients are collected by the shuttle at around 12:00-12:30 pm, and we return to Johannesburg OR Tambo shuttle terminal and lodges within a 5 km radius, arriving between 17.00 and 18.00 pm.

NB: Clients who are flying out of OR Tambo International on the last day of the safari should please not book the flight any earlier than 20:00 pm for Domestic and 21:00 pm for International flights.
