Kruger National Park Safaris and Tours

Kruger day Safari

As the #1 rated Kruger Safari company on TripAdvisor, we’ve spent the last 20 years creating and revising our vast selection of safari packages. Our safaris include some of the best accommodation and plenty of time in the Kruger National Park. And we’ve priced our various safaris in such a way that they will fit into most travel budgets.

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK DAY SAFARIS

Most international travelers visiting the Kruger National Park do only 1 day safari or Day Tours, there are many lodges and hotels on the boundary of the Kruger National Park, mainly around Phalaborwa, Orpen, Paul Kruger, Phabeni, Numbi, Malelane and Crocodile Bridge gates of the Kruger Park.

Joining a shared safari or booking a private vehicle safari in the Kruger Park with Kurt Safari is possible; we offer small group safaris with a min. of 2 clients, and these run daily from Hazyview. We cover the southern section of Kruger, using Numbi and Phabeni gates. These safaris last around 8-9 hours, starting at around 5 – 5.30 am the early hours on safari are the best time of the day in which to find predators. Our guide will stop for a breakfast break at about 9am at one of the rest camps. There after you continue along with the safari, the route travelled will be determined by what season you are travelling in; in the dry seasons guides will concentrate around rivers, dams and water points, in the wet season when water and food is abundant one needs to travel further covering more distance and in this way hoping to find the wildlife one is looking for. In the wet season one might see less game, however there are a lot more migrant birds coming in from Europe and Northern Africa. Animals give birth in the wet season, so this is also exciting to see the small new born impala, warthogs and general game. Photos are better due to the abundant colors and not seen in the dry and grey winter months.

The Kruger National Park safaris are always exciting, so if you have a chance try to book more than one day on safari, as this increases the chance of seeing more wildlife and the different regions and beauty the Kruger Park has to offer. On a Day safari, if you a photographer or Birder or parents with Kids, then the private option is definitely the best safari to book, you have your own safari vehicle with a private guide and you can focus and concentrate on the wildlife and area you prefer. We look forward to having you join one of our many Kruger Park Day safaris and Tours.

Planning a Safari

The world-renowned Kruger National Park is one of the world’s last and greatest wilderness areas. The park is famous for its magnificent wildlife populations and plant diversity, both best seen on a Kruger Park safari or tour. The Kruger has its own pace, trying to rush the experience can easily ruin your time in here. Our Kruger safaris are laid back and honour that slower Kruger vibe.

Kruger National Park Safari Destinations

The park is located in the north-easternmost part of South Africa, bordering Mozambique to the east and Zimbabwe to the north. The area covers 2 000 000 hectares and is made even larger with the private reserves open to the Kruger Park on the western border. The Kruger is about the size of Israel.

The Kruger is divided into 3 sections with the Northern section being very remote and wild, while the South is lush and often a tourist hub of activity. Although most tourists visit the Southern Kruger, the park remains a quiet place.

Many different animals can be seen in the Southern Kruger, especially the Big 5. Our Kruger Park tours are predominantly focused on the Southern Kruger as most of our accommodation is booked in and around Hazyview.

That being said, we do accommodate those guests wanting to travel to the north of the park. In the north, there are fewer visitors and even fewer roads, a true wilderness area with huge areas never visited by people. One can travel huge distances without seeing another vehicle.

Kurt Safari offers tours and safaris to the North and the guides are all true wilderness specialists looking for wild animals. Predators are harder to find in the North, because of the vast areas and because vehicles cannot just travel anywhere. Elephant and buffalo are in abundance.

An intrepid traveller needs to spend no fewer than 4 days in the north of the park, as the distances are large. We travel really slowly along the river beds looking for the wildlife to come drink water in late afternoons.

The best time to safari to the great north is between April and October out of the rainy season and during the winter months which are a lot cooler than the summer months.

There are few areas of Africa as wild and as remote as the Greater Kruger! Join us on an intrepid adventure!
