Kruger National Park Self Drive Safari

A Kruger Park self drive Safari allows you to explore the Kruger National Park in your own car. It is the most cost-effective way to visit the Park and provides the flexibility and thrill of observing animals at your leisure.

Once the Entrance and Camp Gates are open, visitors can self-drive through the park on designated Routes and Roads. All the routes are either unpaved or gravel, and you can’t go off-road to get nearer to the animals.

You are not on a timetable and can explore Kruger Park at your leisure. Stay in nearby accommodations and then drive around as a day visitor, soaking in the scenery and fauna at your pace. It is also the most family-friendly alternative because your children, regardless of age, may go along with you and keep an eye out for the BIG FIVE.

By opting for the Kruger self drive package, you can enter and leave the Park any time of day and as frequently as you like. You are, however, limited to the opening and closing hours of the entrance and camp gates. You must show your lodging ticket and entry and exit permit at the gate.

You enter a habitat of wild animals the moment you exit your vehicle. The wild creatures won’t be afraid of you when you are in your car, allowing you to see them safely. You become susceptible to them the moment you get outside your vehicle.

Even if you don’t see any animals, you shouldn’t ever get out of your car because long grass might hide poisonous snakes and other creatures. Only leave the camp or go to designated areas. You may simply drive into and out of Kruger National Park with your own vehicle.

The road qualities are decent, and the locations are well-marked. If you don’t have a car but still want to conduct a Kruger national park self drive, Skukuza Rest Camp has an Avis rental car office. Moreover, you need not have a 4X4 to self-drive in this park. The roads are tarred, and you can use any car to drive here.
