Black Rhino Safari Lodge

Transfers to and from all Lodges can be arranged

Good to know

There are 23 luxurious suites that can accommodate up to 46 adults.

The Black Rhino Game Lodge is a luxurious safari lodge on the west side of the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve, in a malaria-free private wildlife sanctuary.

The 58 000-hectare Big 5 nature reserve has integrated the Black Rhino Private Game Reserve, and wildlife walks freely in between the two reserves. Only safari companies and paying visitors have access to the private reserve.

The roofed safari lodge, which was built on the ground of an ancient dormant volcano, is located in a grove of shady Tamboti trees in a secluded area of Greater Pilanesberg. In between arid Kalahari and the lush Lowveld, the protected area lies in a specific transition zone. Species from both ecozones thrive in this one-of-a-kind biosphere.

Each luxurious room is air-conditioned and features an ensuite restroom with an outdoor shower as well as a cosy lounge that opens onto a patio with views of a busy watering hole.

The main lounge, kitchen, and dining area are open-plan and tastefully furnished, with high thatched ceilings letting in plenty of natural light. After an early morning game drive, spend your days lounging around one of two plunge pools.

Black Rhino Game Lodge welcomes kids of all ages.

Arrival Day

Arrive at the Greater Pilanesberg’s Black Rhino Private Nature Reserve. After several hours of exploring the nature reserve, return to the lodge in the afternoon. Until departing for a late-afternoon guided tour in the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve, have a light meal and rest. On warmer evenings, return to the lodge as the sun goes down and enjoy a starlit supper around the fire pit.

Black Rhino Game Lodge is where you’ll spend the night.

Days on safari

Begin your day with a breathtaking sunrise guided tour, followed by breakfast and relaxing at the resort, either by the pool or in your luxurious suite. After a quick meal, take a guided tour in an open safari vehicle in the late afternoon. Supper on the deck overlooking the watering hole or at the boma is a perfect way to end the day.
