Arrive at Hosea Kutako International Airport, where your transfer service will be waiting for you. Set out on a 45-kilometer journey to Windhoek, Namibia’s capital, and Eros Airport. After that, take a private charter flight south to the NamibRand Nature Reserve, which is located on the edge of the popular “living” Namib Desert.
Arrive in Wolwedans, where you can take in the breathtaking scenery as well as the peace and tranquility of this magical desert location.
The Namib is one of the world’s oldest deserts, possibly the oldest ever. It had been dry for at least 80 million years. It extends across the Orange River to South Africa in the south, and across the Kunene River to Angola in the north. The Namib is mostly found in Namibia, where it covers about 1500 kilometers of the Atlantic coast.
Its width ranges between 80 and 140 kilometers, but it can stretch up to 200 kilometers inland in some areas.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the vlei’s base before tackling the famed Big Daddy dune or a relatively short 1.1km hike to Dead Vlei – all of which are well worth the effort!
Sossusvlei is a dune wonderland surrounded by a large dried-up pan of dunes up to 300 meters high. The vivid hues of the dunes range from pale apricot to fiery reds and oranges, stretching as far as the eye can see. The Tsauchab River flows into the pan during a wet season, providing a safe refuge for waterbirds.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before taking a private charter flight to Swakopmund. Enjoy the cooler coastal weather, the historic culture of this lovely place, and the charming atmosphere of the Swakopmund Sands Hotel when you arrive.
Relax in the hotel’s cosy courtyard garden, stroll through the shops and stop for a coffee in one of the many small cafés or restaurants, or stroll along the beach promenade to see the popular Swakopmund jetty.

We suggest driving to Walvis Bay for a thrilling (optional) boat ride along the scenic coastal path that runs between the sea and the dune landscape.
Walvis Bay, Namibia’s main harbor town, is quickly becoming a popular destination for seaside vacations.
The lagoon, with its diverse bird life, is the main attraction; around 80 000 wading birds, including flamingos and rare white pelicans, can be seen. Walvis Bay and the offshore islands were integrated into the Republic of Namibia on March 1, 1994, after becoming a former South African enclave.
The fishing port is the heart of Namibia’s fast-growing fishing industry, and the town has a well-developed and productive harbour.
A three-hour boat ride through the Walvis Bay lagoon will transport you to another country. Pelicans and flamingos have been seen, and dolphins and seals swim alongside the boat on a daily basis, with one or two seals jumping into the boat to be fed.
On the cruise, snacks, oysters, and champagne are served.
Around midday, you return to Swakopmund for an optional short city tour. The rest of the day is then yours to do as you please; several optional (at your own expense) activities are available in and around town. Swakopmund is well-liked as a cool respite from the interior’s sun, and it’s known for its charm and old-world atmosphere. During German colonial rule, the town was established in 1892 and served as the territory’s main port for many years.
The distinct German colonial character has been well preserved, and many of the old buildings have been converted to useful uses, such as Woermann House (1905), which now houses an art gallery. The Woermann Tower was once used to check for ships approaching the harbour. Such historic buildings worth seeing include “The Old Barracks,” “Hohenzollern House,” and the railway station.

Before landing at the private airstrip, you fly on to see large sections of the vast and famous Etosha National Park from the air. You will then travel by road to the magical Onguma Bush Camp, where you will check into this luxurious lodge. Onguma is the perfect location for a safari vacation because it is home to about a hundred and seven large game species.
As you discover the warm soul of the African bush from the supreme comfort of your sumptuous accommodation and participate in optional early morning Etosha safari drives, bird watching safaris, and game drives at sunset or after dark, you will always be surrounded by views of nature.

Etosha National Park is one of Africa’s largest parks, covering 22 270 square kilometers of salt desert, savannah, and woodland. The Etosha Pan, a massive, shallow depression covering about 5000 square kilometers, is its defining feature. The pan is a barren expanse of white, broken mud that shimmers with mirage on most days for the majority of the year.
The sight of massive herds of game against the eerie backdrop of the “great white place of dry water” makes the Etosha experience one of a kind. The park is home to 114 different mammal species, including several rare and endangered species like the black rhino and the black-faced impala. The park is also home to a variety of bird species.

As your magical luxury fly-in safari comes to a close, board the private charter for the final flight back to Windhoek. A quick road transfer from Eros Airport to the elegant Heinitzburg Hotel overlooking the city is included.
Windhoek is Namibia’s largest region, with a population of just 300,000 residents. Katutura, the city’s Bantu-speaking suburb, houses the majority of Windhoek’s population. The Oshiwambo word katutura means “the place where we don’t want to visit.”
The old colonial houses can be seen right next to the buildings of new, post-independent Namibia along “Independence Avenue,” the former “Emperor’s Road.”
For the evening, check into the spacious and elegant Heinitzburg Hotel. Dinner (own expense) at the hotel’s famous Leo’s Restaurant or one of Windhoek’s other fine restaurants.

The Dunes Lodge is perched on top of a dune plateau, overlooking panoramic vistas in all directions and capturing the beauty of the desert in a most memorable way. Building style is a combination of wooden structures and canvas blinds, opening up to the desert beyond.
The lodge reflects the ambience of a tented camp, but provides the comfort and protection of a permanent building. Each of the nine spacious chalets with en-suite bathrooms sports a private verandah, which connects you to vast stretches of untouched sand. Sleeping with your canvas blinds open is just like sleeping under the stars.
The main complex – which has completely been rebuilt during 2003 – consists of two lounges, a number of sundowner decks, a fireplace, a tea deck, a library, the wine cellar and two dining rooms.
The lodge also has a swimming pool, which is suspended above the sand. All communal areas of the lodge open out onto decks with superb views.
The Swakopmund Sands is literary minutes’ walk away from the very popular Jetty and TUG restaurants as well as other tourist attractions and yet you have total privacy once on the premises. Each room is equipped with a flat screen TV, safe, heating, fridge, as well as tea and coffee facilities for your convenience. A laundry service is available for same day delivery.
Each bathroom has a hairdryer and shaving facilities and all international power points can be used. In the morning you will be able to enjoy a sumptuous buffet breakfast in a very relaxing and tranquil dining area.
Mowani Mountain Camp offers luxury tented accommodation with magnificent desert views. Open air en-suite bathrooms and private decks give you great views of Damaraland and the reliability of nearby Twyfelfontein with its San engravings and paintings is contrasted by the elusive desert adapted elephants.
The Twyfelfontein conservancy has been protecting the southern most roaming ground of the black rhino and elusive desert elephant. Sustainable eco-tourism and community upliftment is of the utmost importance at Mowani. Guides from the local tribes compliment day-time game drives to track mountain zebra, kudu, springbok, klipspringer and if you are fortunate enough… the leopard! The adventurer in me took over at Mowani. Days were filled with game drives, hot air balloon trips over the Aba-Huab Valley, champagne breakfasts and al fresco meals amidst the dusky landscape beneath Mopani trees.
Onguma Bush Camp is ideal for families who would like to have a base from which they can explore Etosha National Park. Upon your return, relax and cool off around the swimming pool while watching a spectacular sunset… and the children can run around on the lawns as this is an enclosed camp.
Dinner is served in the dinning area overlooking a large waterhole. Here you will be treated to an excellent combination of European and traditional African cuisine while watching the game coming to drink.

The Heinitzburg offers 16 spacious generously appointed en-suite rooms, each individually decorated, leaving no two rooms looking the same. Each room has individual air-conditioning / heating unit, direct telephone, electronic safe, mini bar, flat screen TV with satellite channels. The superior deluxe rooms have a bath with integrated showers, whilst the deluxe rooms all have a walk in shower.
At the hotel’s serene garden, guests are welcome to relax in a private atmosphere whilst enjoying the refreshing swimming pool (heated in winter).
Hotel Heinitzburg has a variety of dining outlets. There’s the gourmet restaurant overlooking the skyline of the city while serving varied cuisine ranging from local to international dishes. The Garden Terrace provides superb view over the city and the surrounding mountains. At the Garden Terrace, meals, coffee and cakes from the patisserie are served throughout the day while snacks and sundowner cocktails are served at the viewpoint with marvelous vistas of spectacular sunsets. There’s also the Wine Cellar which houses a large collection of carefully selected South African vintages. The cellar is built into the mountain rock and is an ideal meeting place.

Many people don’t see the point in driving through a bushveld looking for animals, but there’s so much more to it. wild animals are seen as a nuisance in most inhabited areas, but if you’ve never seen the magic of animals in their natural habitat, untouched by humans, you’ve been missing out! looking at zoo animals in their enclosures might be considered nice, because you’re almost 100% guaranteed that you’ll see them, but that’s not how they behave in the wild. nothing beats the thrill of finding a pride of lions laying in the shade, or walking across the road right in front of you, and once you’ve felt the reverberations of an elephant’s trumpet through your bones, you’ll be hooked! our clients often come back for more, because you never know what you’re going to see next…

We operate from hazyview and will collect you from any of the lovely holiday resorts, lodges or nearby locations. our vehicles depart at different times in different seasons… for full day or morning safaris, we leave at 5am in october to march and at 5h30am in april to september. for afternoon safaris, we leave at 13h00 pm in the afternoons. most of the wildlife in the park prefers hiding in the shade during the hot afternoons, so we highly recommend joining us for the earlier safaris to get the most out of your trip.
Anything to do with the word “game” whilst on a safari—like game drives or looking for game—all refers to wild animals in safari context. you might also encounter “game” on the menus of some traditional restaurants, which basically means that you’re ordering wild buck meat, or even warthog.
Even though the knp falls in a malaria area, most foreigners are pleasantly surprised at how few mosquitoes are actually encountered whilst on a safari. these mosquitoes breed in water, and even in the middle of our rainy season in december, we don’t consider them to be a relentless menace. despite what you might have been told, mosquitoes are not a plague in the knp and although we are always cautious about malaria, the locals in and around the knp do not run around with repellents all the time.
If you’re really worried and consider yourself or anyone joining you on the safari to be particularly susceptible to this rare disease, be sure to consult your gp. there are many places in the park where you can buy mosquito repellent containing deet—this is the most vital ingredient in insect repellents as it has been proven to repel the malaria-carrying mosquitoes effectively.
Even though the kruger park is basically a giant protected bushveld and sparsely populated, there are many little “towns” and camps where you can find anything from grocery stores, souvenir stores, petrol stations and much more.
As mentioned before, there are many places in the knp where we can stop over for lunch where you can buy take-away food or choose to have a meal at the various restaurants. we usually have lunch at skukuza, but this is not set in stone.
Two words: comfortable and practical. seeing as you’re going to be driving around for the majority of the time on your safari experience, it is advisable that you wear clothes that are not too tight and not too hot. winters can be cold, so check the forecast beforehand, but summers are the opposite—just take a jacket with you in case it gets chilly, and stay away from high heels, ladies! we might stop on top of rocky mountains to give you an in-person taste of the spectacular views in the knp. trust me, it’s spine-chilling raw beauty.
You’ll be surprised at the true meaning of this term—it actually refers to the five most feared animals in the bush. they are extremely dangerous to hunt on foot and also rather rare. the big 5 consists of african lions, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. it really is a tourist attraction and many safari companies utilise this term as a major marketing strategy.
We cannot guarantee that there will be sightings of all five animals in the big 5, but we can guarantee that we will do our best to find them. elephants are massive, this is true, but in the lush untouched bushveld of the kruger, if they don’t want to be seen, they can easily disappear behind the trees mere meters away from you. they tend not to be too shy, unlike leopards. rhinos are extremely scarce, but our guides know where their usual grazing spots are, and a pride of lions would attract so much attention that our radios would notify us if there’s a sighting nearby. nevertheless, you are guaranteed to see a very diverse variety of animals in the kruger national park.
Children under 8 are more than welcome on privately hired open vehicles, yes. this is purely out of consideration for our other clients who do not have children and might not have the patience for their unique outlook and excitement about each wild animal we encounter. all children under 12 have discounted safari rates, as well as half-price conservation fees to enter the kruger national park.

I cannot even begin to list the most amazing experiences we’ve had whilst on safaris in the knp! there are too many to count, each encounter very different but equally remarkable. if you consider the size of the knp and how many animals call it their home, you can only begin to imagine the things we’ve seen—from a ride of lionesses to the birth of a brand-new baby giraffe. each time our jaws drop at the splendour of mother nature. you will have to come and see it for yourself.
Placing yourself in the middle of a nature reserve where there are numerous predators and dangerous animals could sound pretty intimidating, but rest assured, kurt safari guides all have in-depth knowledge about the behaviour of these animals and would never put your life in danger. elephants can be aggressive if they have young ones to protect and even lone elephant bulls have charged at cars that don’t know when to back away, but obtaining injuries from wild animals whilst on a safari is very rare and you need not be worried—just enjoy the ride.
