Mole Snake

Mole Snake [Pseudaspis cana]

Appearance

The mole snake has a wide variety of colors, adults can be black, brown, light brown brick red or medium brown. Juveniles tend to have bright markings on their body. The snake is not venomous but it can inflict a nasty bit.

Diet

In the wild a mole snake will hunt for rodents such as mice and moles.

Distribution

Mole snakes can be found in the Highvel plateau and grasslands and in the shrubbery of the South African Cape.

Breeding

Mole Snake give live birth to about 25-50 young. The young have an average length of 20-30 cm in length after birth.
