Navigating Travel Bans: Tips and Strategies

While 2022 does look like the year that we start to return to some form of pre-2020 normality, the likelihood of new COVID mutations being a part of our lives for months and years to come remains, and so us travellers need to become more savvy when it comes to navigating travel bans so that we can still explore the world without the stress of unexpected, last minute changes.

Travel agencies have been hard at work trying to make sure that they are knowledgeable enough to help their clients work around the quickly evolving travel restrictions and the fact that many of these restrictions leave travellers in a lurch, often stranded in airports or even unable to leave a country once they arrive at a place.

The problem is that no travel agency or consultant on the planet can predict what restrictions will be introduced next, or where the measures will come in. This means it is equally up to the traveller to restriction proof their holiday, and we are going to share just a few fairly straight forward ways that you can do just that.

At Kurt Safari, we try to go above and beyond for our guests, to ensure that they have the best possible stay. While we can’t always ensure that your trip will be without upsetting problems, like sudden travel changes, we can help you to be better prepared, should the unexpected happen. Our consultants are experienced and highly trained, which means we can shake up schedules and keep you up to date about the changes as they happen.

But how can you help yourself?

To start with, be flexible with your bookings

So long as the travel restrictions carry on, each day is going to have to be taken as it comes. As we’ve already seen during these past 2 years, governments around the world can change their minds overnight. One day, coming and going might be easy, but by the next, everything can change and the plans that you have made will need to be altered.

To minimise the amount of disappointment that you experience should this happen, you will need to learn how to be more flexible with your bookings. You should also make sure that you book with someone who can offer obligation free cancellations, should you be unable to travel.

Just travel to one country

Instead of creating an epic road trip with numerous countries on the list of places you’ll be visiting, focus on a single country. This way, should new restrictions come into play in various countries, you will not have to face the hassle of changing all of your plans.

Get tested before you go anywhere

A quick coronavirus test before you leave, even if it is not required, is one way to avoid holiday disaster. Leaving one country and then arriving at the next, only to discover upon arrival that you are indeed positive (because plenty of countries require a test when entering the country) will ruin your holiday. You don’t want to have to spend your 14 day break stuck in quarantine.
