Travelling the Kruger National Park in July

By the time July arrives, the Kruger is at its driest. The days are far colder than those of June and although the days are likely to be warmer than the winter days in other parts of the country, the nights and early mornings in particular can be rather cold.

The Southern Kruger is still the most popular place in the park at this time of the year, while the north sees even fewer visitors than it otherwise does. To avoid the crowds that dominate the south of the park, it can be better to head north, but again you need to keep in mind that you are less likely to see as many animals in the north as you could in the south.

Kruger Park Tours in July

Travelling the park during the cold month of July, does have its perks, and if you are planning a safari with Kurt Safari, you can look forward to a thrilling experience. With the Kruger being such a dry and desolate place during the winter months, you are actually putting yourself at a great advantage. At this time of the year, the vast majority of the vegetation has just about completely died away. While this can make life for the wildlife a little more difficult as finding food can become a mission, for the park visitor it means seeing more wildlife as you won’t be straining your eyes in an attempt to spot the animals hidden in the bush.

The cool weather is also rather fantastic for other reasons. You will be well away from the humidity of the summer months that can make your stay here so incredibly unpleasant, as well as the heat that can so quickly become oppressive, making your trip to the Kruger National Park not as enjoyable as it could be. With the cooler weather, you can spend the entire day out enjoying the sights and sounds of the park, without being overwhelmed.

Wildlife to look out for

There is a chance to see just about every kind of animal that lives in the park when you travel the area in July. This is because the animals are not going anywhere at this time of the year, and unlike the hot summer months, the wildlife won’t be spending the majority of the day hidden away from heat.

When travelling in the south of the park, you can keep a look out for the usual antelope, giraffe, zebra, rhino, and elephant, while you might also see lion and if you are really lucky, leopard. If you are travelling to the north of the park, you could be lucky enough to spot cheetah crossing the open plains.

At Kurt Safari, we offer our guests a range of exciting Kruger Park safaris to enjoy. Our guests are treated to the trip of a lifetime and when travelling in July, you can look forward to seeing a wide range of wildlife.
