As daylight fades, the character of the bush changes, depending on the season. During the winter, the sunsets earlier, allowing for an extended night-drive experience, while summer offers a dramatic, lingering twilight painted across the sky. Once darkness settles, spotlights come into play. Cooler temperatures typically encourage more animal movement, and your guide will focus on finding nocturnal species and tracking any predators beginning their nightly rounds.

We start our safaris just before the sun rises. This is the best time of the day to travel to the park, and your guide will know just where to find the wildlife you’ve come to see, including the Big 5 and plains game. Early morning safaris are also the ideal time of the day to see predators.
The lodge will arrange breakfast packs, and your guide will stop after about 3 hours of driving for breakfast, a bathroom break and a chance to get coffee. We then continue the safari. The beautiful Kruger is home to a wide variety of eco zones and in each one, there are all sorts of interesting wildlife to see. During our drive we will visit rivers and watering holes as well as plains and Bushveld regions, all the areas that are best known for wildlife sightings.

The day is dedicated to exploring the Panorama Route’s most iconic viewpoints and geological wonders. The journey includes sweeping vistas from God’s Window, the sculpted rock formations of Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the immense Blyde River Canyon, one of the largest on Earth, along with the thunderous Lisbon Falls, the striking 3 Rondavels, and the character-filled town of Graskop.
The drive from Hazyview takes 45 minutes before the road begins winding upward, climbing close to a kilometre into the Northern Drakensberg. As the landscape rises, the air cools and the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic, offering views that shift from lush lowveld to rugged mountain terrain.
Lunch is enjoyed in Graskop, where travellers often take a little time to browse the local curio shops or try one of the town’s famously indulgent pancakes.
By late afternoon, usually between 16:00 and 17:00, we’ll return to the lodge. There’s time for a drink, a swim, or simply relaxing before dinner, setting everyone up for the early start of the next day’s Kruger safari.
