Vue d'ensemble

While a morning game drive is considered the best time of the day to visit the Kruger National Park, an afternoon spent driving the dusty tracks, as the weather cools off and the sun dips low, and turns a deep, lazy orange, is the second best time. This afternoon Kruger safari will take you through parts of the Southern Kruger, where you’ll see a wide variety of animals.

Après-midi

Even though wildlife tends to rest in the midday heat, the advantage of an afternoon safari is that our guides Might have information about earlier sightings and where they took place. With this information on hand, we set off to these areas in the hopes of bringing you the most exciting wildlife sightings. We frequent watering holes, which are popular sighting areas in the hot afternoon, as animals come for a drink or to play in the water. There is nothing more pleasing than watching elephants splashing playfully in a river on a hot afternoon.

As the day gets closer to closing time in the park, the better the chances of sightings become, as the animals become more active as the heat dissipates.

Are afternoon safaris good in the Kruger National Park?

Yes, afternoon safaris are excellent in the Kruger National Park. As the day cools and the sun begins to set, animals become more active, especially near watering holes. Afternoon drives also benefit from earlier sighting information gathered by guides.

The afternoon safari lasts 6–7 hours. It begins in Hazyview, includes a transfer to and from the park, and extended game viewing through wildlife-rich areas of the Southern Kruger.

Yes, single travellers can join this shared tour. However, the safari requires a minimum of two people to operate, so the tour runs when at least two guests are booked.

Because afternoons can be hot, even in winter, you should bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and comfortable shoes. Winter guests should pack warm clothing for the evening, while summer travellers should bring a rain jacket.

The tour includes conservation fees, mineral water and a guided game drive in an open 4×4 safari vehicle. No accommodation is included.
