Welcome to Namibia

Welcome to Namibia, the neighbouring Sister Country of South Africa and beautiful tourist destination of Africa. Namibia has a truly unique landscape that combines the beauty of the oceanside, the vastness and heat of the desert and the green and lively landscape of the bushveld. Tours and adventures through this amazing country are unique and provide many great sights to visit.

Unfortunately, many people have the impression that Namibia is just a deserted and uninhabitable country with just dunes, sand, and dryness. But luckily there are plenty of different and amazing reasons to visit this stunning country.

Culturally Dense

Long before any interference from outside countries, Namibia was famous for all of the different indigenous tribes. One of the famous tribes that was known very well in the region was the San Bush People. The San Bushmen were some of the earliest inhabitants to call the Namibian landscape home. The San Bushmen lived in smaller groups near the eastern regions of Namibia as well as Botswana, Zimbabwe and Angola. Namibia is well worth the visit as there are numerous museums that allow tourists to learn about the many cultural tribes that called the country and region home

Lively

With Namibia varying so greatly with different landscapes, it is no surprise that a large variety of animals can be found throughout the country. Namibia has 3 main environmental landscapes in the form of Oceanside, Desert and Bushveld. Each of these areas have their own set of animals, that provide unique viewing experiences with each great adventure. Namibia is home to plenty of sizeable watering holes that almost guarantee some great animal sightings of animals trying to cool off under the intense heat of the Namibian sun.

Great all year

Namibia’s geological landscape mainly consists of desert terrain and semi-arid climate. The inherent dryness and dry climate means Namibia has very hot summers between the months of November and April and actually quite pleasant cool winters between May and October. Rain and thunderstorms are a rare occurrence as Namibia only receives a fraction of the rain other East African countries experience, with storms and rain being localized occurrences. Namibia boasts an impressive 300/365.25 days of sunshine that is excellent for game viewing experience. When the Rain does decide to fall, it hardly affects your viewing experiences both in the lush areas and on the Dunes. A Surprising experience during the wet season is to see tufts of green grass break out of the rust coloured dunes.

Kurt Safari Co. offers amazing Namibian Tours that take tourists through this vast and beautiful Country, to explore all the beauty up for offer.

Historically Interesting

Namibia is a fascinating country that piqued the interest of European Powers when they were interested in claiming many of Africa’s countries for themselves. The First European powers that set foot on Namibia were the Portuguese with the Germans following soon after. Namibia was claimed and declared a German colony in 1884 lasting all the way to 1915. The history of the European Influence of Namibia is clear in the architecture of the colourful colonial towns. Many locations, especially in Swakopmund, use German names on their street signs and many restaurants have traditional German dishes.
