Amazing Flowers to Discover in Kruger National Park<\/h2>\n

Summer is here! And the recent heavy rains have brought life back into the Kruger, making it not only a great place to see all sorts of wildlife and birds, but also the place to do a little plant identifying.<\/p>\n

The Kruger is one of the most beautiful places in all of South Africa, and it is also one of the most diverse places to visit, especially if you are the type of person who is really keen on seeing various plant life. Although the Kruger is also home to all sorts of evergreen plant life, it is during the spring and summer months that things really turn absolutely beautiful.<\/p>\n

Bright colours pop out all over, on trees, small shrubs and bushes, and in some of the camps, the impala and kudu lilies are covered in red and pink blooms, and all throughout the park, various wildflowers cover the land, between the grass and rocks.<\/p>\n

You won\u2019t drive a single road through the Kruger without seeing bright blooms all over the place, but these are the flowers that you should look out for in particular.<\/p>\n

  1. Bush Willow Blooms<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Hanging from the sickle bush, these lantern like flowers are lilac and yellow, and very easy to spot. The tree looks much like an acacia and it is the preferred food for all sorts of wildlife. These flowers are rather well known for giving off a pleasant scent.<\/p>\n

    1. Summer Impala Lily<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Drought-resistant and only slightly similar to its winter counter-part, these gorgeous pink lilies show off their bright colours from January through to April, and at this moment they are on the list of critically endangered list of South African plants, so if you see one, count yourself really lucky!<\/p>\n

      1. Lion\u2019s Ear<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        It doesn\u2019t really look like a lion\u2019s ear but it is a rather imposing plant and its bright orange colours make it an attractive feast for the sunbird\u2019s that spend the season that they are in bloom taking as much nectar as they can. You will see these flowers throughout the park from November to January, and then again from about April to June.<\/p>\n

        1. Leopard Orchid<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          A brilliant looking plant, with flowers covered in dark spots, this orchid is always a lovely thing to come across. It is South Africa\u2019s largest orchid to grow above ground and it is known for growing in clumps on top of trees. Sadly, you will likely only see this plant bloom in the winter months.<\/p>\n

          1. Monkey\u2019s Tail<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Come November, and you couple see this unusual looking plant in various places around the Kruger. When its flowers are closed, it looks like a monkey\u2019s tail, which is precisely how it got its unique name and it is perfectly suitable for life in the often harsh conditions of the Kruger. This plant is known for being sturdy and able to go for very long periods without water.
