What to expect
The Kruger National Park is one of the worlds’ leading nature reserves and on a 4-day safari we spend a lot of time exploring the Park. Most operators only do 3-hour morning and afternoon drives, but the KNP is vast and Kurt Safari was one of the first operators to introduce full-day safaris on our 4-day safari tours.
This gives clients a chance to see a larger part of the Kruger and different areas, compared to short 3-hour safaris which must remain close to the camps, resulting in driving the same areas on every safari.
Spending a full day in the KNP can sound tiring, but the guides stop regularly at rest camps and lookout points. The extended time increases the chances of seeing more wildlife as we traverse different grasslands and ecological zones.

We prefer the lodges and hotels outside of the Kruger Park as there is a bigger variety of accommodation and it’s only a 10-minute drive to the nearest entry gate. All the accommodation venues are privately owned. We cannot take children under 8 on shared safaris but please request a quote on private safaris. Clients flying out of OR TAMBO on last day to please not book flights earlier than 20:00 pm for domestic flights and 21:00 pm for international flights as one cannot always guarantee on-time arrival at OR Tambo International airport. Clients should arrive the day before their tour starts to avoid missing the shuttle to KNP, as this vehicle is not private and cannot be delayed.
Day 1: Pick up from Airport and First Afternoon Safari
Guests will be picked up from different lodges and hotels between 6:30 am and 6:45 am within a 5 km radius of the OR Tambo International Airport, and then from the OR Tambo International Airport Shuttle and Bus Terminal between 6:45 am and 7:00 am, departing at 7:15 am. Please confirm your pick up position firstname.lastname@example.org the day before the trip. Note that these are joint departures. We’re going to fly straight to our Hazyview lodge and arrive between 11:30 am and 12:00 pm. Until embarking on an afternoon Panorama Highlights Tour at 13:30 pm, visiting the Blyde River Canyon, the 3 Rondavels, Lisbon waterfalls, and Gods Window, guests will have time to relax, unpack and enjoy a light lunch. At about 18:30 pm, we returned to the lodge for a lovely dinner, a relaxing evening and an exciting safari.
Day 2 & 3: Full Day open vehicle safari (Breakfast & Dinner included)
During the following two days, guests will depart from the lodge before sunrise. The guide will focus on taking guests to different locations throughout the two days so they can explore more of the park and see more fauna and flora. Exploring more of the park also increases the chance of encountering the Big 5. Guests will enjoy their pre packed breakfasts at picnic spots while lunch will be had at a rest camp at own account. 85% of guests encounter the Big 5 on these safaris. The safari will end at around 15:30 – 16:00 pm, where the guests are taken back to the lodge to enjoy some relaxation and enjoy a delicious dinner.
Day 4: Morning safari and transfer back to Johannesburg (Breakfast included)
The last morning safari will start before sunrise, with guests departing for the Kruger National Park. Guides will focus on finding the animals that have been elusive the last few days and will also take guests to new areas. Breakfast will be enjoyed at a picnic area before returning to the lodge at 11:30am. Guests can then collect their luggage and sign out of their rooms before being transported to OR Tambo and the relevant lodges via air conditioned buses. Guests will arrive between 17:30 and 18:00 pm
There you will depart to your various lodges and hotels after a great safari experience.
NB: Clients flying out of OR TAMBO on last day to please not book flights earlier than 19:00 PM for domestic flights and 20:00 PM for international flights as we cannot guarantee on-time arrival at OR Tambo International airport.
