GREAT NORTH KRUGER WILDLIFE AND BIRDING PHOTOGRAPHY SAFARI
This safari is designed for the wildlife and birding enthusiasts, the great north is wild and free with far fewer people and visitors then the southern Kruger, wildlife is in abundant but can be harder to find due to the vast remote spaces, with river beds, and baobab trees, a truly amazing experience, best times of the year are between April and October for Wildlife sightings and November to April for birding safaris.
Day 1: Johannesburg to Hoedspruit to Shingwedzi camp Kruger national park
This safari departs Johannesburg at 6.30 am from the Johannesburg O R Tambo bus and shuttle area, there are many accommodation lodges in the area to choose from please see lodges attached, these lodges have transfers to Or Tambo on a regular schedule, please note it is a shared shuttle and shuttle leaves strictly at designated time.
The shuttle arrives in Hoedspruit around 12 pm where you will be met by your safari guide, from here we will depart on an open safari vehicle and head North to your overnight accommodation at Shingwedzi camp for the following 3 nights, this is a long day and not a lot of time to relax from Hoedspruit it will take the entire afternoon to get to the camp before gate closing times. On route we get the firsts taste or true wilderness making our way up north deeper into Africa and deeper into true wilderness.
Day 2: Kruger park safari- Sshingwedzi
Shingwedzi and surrounding area like Red rocks region to the south along some amazing semi-dry river beds, and to the north of Shingwedzi the Mpholongo river bed that takes one up to the Babalala picnic spot, returning past the Boyela waterhole were the lager herd of elephants love to gather in late afternoons, truly amazing wildlife and nature in this area, the steep gorges and river beds and open plains all make for a great contrast and game sightings.
The safaris follow river beds which only flow in the rain season between April and October they stop flowing and the great numbers of wildlife from the surrounding areas come to these waters, the birding and elephant populations and buffalo herds are abundant in the northern parts in Kruger and truly an amazing experience.
Day 3: Kruger park safari- crooks corner- border of mozambigue-zimbabwe and south Africa- shingwedzi.
Today we safari to the northern border of south Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, the famous crooks corner, infamous for the illegal trades of ivory 100 years ago. Fever tree forests, and baobab trees, line the livuvu and Limpopo Rivers, the Shingwedzi River on the camps boundary is beautiful especially at dawn and sunset. The northern Kruger is the best region in trying to find the rare mammal species like Roan, sable, tsessebe, and eland antelope, while at same time trying our luck on the Big 5, elephant and Buffalo are in abundant in the far northern region of the Kruger Park.
Your guide will make breakfast for you at the Pafuri picnic spot and you will Join Frank a local bird guide for a walk around the picnic area showing his local and great knowledge of the birdlife in the area.
A long safari back to lodge arriving in the late afternoon before sunset, this a really long yet rewarding day, few visitors visit this area of Kruger and it’s a truly fantastic wildlife experience.
Day 4: Morning safari Kruger Park to Hoesdspruit then transfer to Johannesburg.
An early rise and we make our way to Phalaborwa gate, this safari leads south again and trying to find some wildlife not yet seen in the last few days and we stop at the Mopani camp for breakfast and then to Hoedspruit where we will be met by the shuttle and transfer to Johannesburg to the Or Tambo airport, here one can catch a shuttle to any local hotel in the area.

Please note: this tours is also an expedition with some long days, and we visit the remote and northern sections of the great Kruger national park, one needs patience and even though wildlife can be easier to find in the central and southern Kruger this tour is designed for the true wildlife enthusiast or birder.
Day 1: Johannesburg Or Tambo shuttle Terminal to Hoedspruit then to Shingwedzi camp.
This safari departs Johannesburg at 6.30 am from the Johannesburg O R Tambo bus terminal, we travel 6 hours to Hoedspruit where we meet the safari vehicle and Guide another 45 min to the Phalaborwa gate where we enter Kruger, and the safari starts.An average of 3 hours to Shingwedzi camp, not much time for a slow safari so will need to get to camp before closing time, a lot of beautiful bushveld county and its wildlife to be enjoyed on route to Shingwedzi campThe northern Kruger is the best region in trying to find the rare mammal species like Roan, sable, tsessebe, and eland antelope, while at same time trying our luck on the Big 5, elephant and Buffalo are in abundant in the far northern region of the Kruger Park.

Day 2: Shingwedzi Morning and afternoon safaris.
Today we explore 2 special area one just to North of the camp and another to the south, these roads follow river beds and to the north of Shingwedzi the Mpholongo river bed that takes one up to the Babalala picnic spot, returning past the Boyela waterhole were the lager herd of elephants love to gather in late afternoons and in the months of April to October the animals start to come to get their water here as the water in the bush dries up, in the months of November to April the best birding are in Kruger, we will explore one in the morning returning to camp for a brunch and rest and swim, and the other route in the afternoon, enjoying the late afternoon and sunset, while amongst africa wildest regions.
Day 3: Shingwedzi to Crooks corner and return to shingled.
This morning another early start, we head far north to the border of Zimbabwe and Mozambique called crooks corner a hide away for ivory smugglers many years ago, a beautiful wild remote isolated area I find to be amongst my favourite in africa.
We experience the norther camp of punda Maria, crooks corner the breakfast spot on the Livuvu river where we will be led on a bird walk with the local caretaker and birding expert Frank, the fever tree forests of the north and the amazing baobab trees.
Breakfast and lunch on route and late afternoon return to camp before gate closing time.
Dinner and rest after another amazing day.
Day 4: Shingwedzi to Hoedspruit to Johannesburg O R Tambo International.
An early start we head south towards the Phalaborwa gate, it will take around 4 hours to reach the gate with some great wildlife sightings on the way, breakfast on route, we leave the Kruger and make our way to Hoedspruit to meet the shuttle to Johannesburg, the shuttle stops at O R Tambo airport.
