More information on how to get to the Kruger National Park

  • There are daily flights from Johannesburg to Skukuza (Kruger National Park), as well as KMIA (Nelspruit)
  • Private transfers from Skukuza or Nelspruit to Hazyview is R 1 548 PER VEHICLE, 1-7 clients, one way, as well as an additional R 82 per person for conservation fees to be paid at the airport.
  • Clients will need to book a private vehicle for the transfer to Hazyview; the rate of the tour reduces by R 800 per person if choosing to fly in and book a private transfer.

Important information

  • We prefer the lodges and hotels outside of the Kruger Park as there is a bigger variety of accommodation and it’s only a 10-minute drive to the nearest entry gate. All the accommodation venues are privately owned.
  • We cannot take children under 8 on shared safaris but please request a quote on private safaris.
  • Clients flying out of OR TAMBO on last day should please avoid booking flights earlier than 20h00 (domestic flights) and 21h00 (international flights) as one cannot always guarantee on-time arrival at OR Tambo International airport.
  • Clients should arrive the day before their tour starts to avoid missing the shuttle to KNP, as this vehicle is not private and cannot be delayed.

Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Protea Hotel by Marriott, Kruger Gate. (Dinner included)

We will book a shuttle from Ashton’s Shuttle Services to collect clients at Oliver Tambo Airport in Johannesburg and transfer them to their lodge at the Kruger Gate. The transfer duration will be around 5 hours. Guests will be checked in and have enough time to get settled before being collected by a Kruger Park game drive vehicle and guide for a sunset safari in the KNP.

Day 2 & 3: Full-day private open vehicle safaris in the Kruger National Park (Breakfast & Dinner included)

An early morning start before the sun rises, we collect breakfast packs from reception, have a coffee and meet the safari guide for the next few days, The guides will choose a route suitable for the time of the year , guides are in the park daily and have an idea of the best places to find wildlife different times of the year, guides will pass Rivers, waterholes, viewpoints, and will stop for a breakfast and get a coffee at a rest camp or picnic spot.

After the breakfast stop, the guide will continue with the safari looking for those animals that are still missing, your guide can stop at a restaurant inside the Kruger National Park for lunch, determined by the route chosen on the day. (Lunch is for own account), after lunch the last few hours trying to see what else we can find before returning to the lodge for a swim and a drink.

Our guides will collect clients early on both the 2nd and 3rd days. They will be provided with packed breakfasts from the lodge which will be enjoyed at a rest camp chosen by the guide, depending on the route taken on each day respectively.

The guide will use the same discretion when choosing a rest camp to stop for lunch; the restaurants in the KNP serve delicious meals and a wide variety of drinks. Please note that lunch is for clients’ own account.

They will be returned to the lodge at about 16h00 on both days.

Day 4: Half-day private open vehicle safari in the Kruger National Park. (Breakfast included)

Clients are collected before the sunrise for another safari experience unlike the ones before. The same guide as the previous days will show you the different species that roam the KNP in these early morning hours. He will take into consideration what the clients have seen on their previous safaris and try to find the species which they have not yet encountered.

They will return to the hotel for breakfast between 9:00 and 9:30 am. Clients would need to pack their bag and be ready for collection between 11:00 and 11:15. Ashton’s will transfer clients back to the ORTIA in Johannesburg having made memories to last.
