Once you are in Johannesburg, we will transfer you from the airport to where you will be staying in the city. You will have some time to settle in and relax at your hotel before we collect you for your first tour which will take you into Soweto. Once the tour is over, we will drop you off safely at your Johannesburg accommodation.
Leaving Johannesburg early the next day, we will drive you to Hippo Hollow Hotel in Hazyview. This comfortable, safe, privately owned hotel will be your home for the next 3 nights. We choose this hotel for its comfort and privacy as well as for its location. Hippo Hollow is just 10 minutes away from the nearest gateway into the Kruger National Park.
Upon arrival and checking in, you will be given time to relax before your first safari begins. The afternoon will be spent in the Kruger National Park. After the tour, we will return to the hotel where you will indulge in a delicious meal.
Our days start very early when you are staying at Hippo Hollow Hotel. Before the sun peeks out over the mountains, we are in the safari vehicles, heading into the Kruger National Park. We enter the park through one of the gates that are well known for their nearby animal sightings. Once in the park, you will be spending the day with an experienced guide who will take you to the best places to see animals.
Breakfast consists of a pre-packed meal that is provided by the hotel at which you are staying. We stop at a rest camp and eat. After breakfast, the journey in the park continues as we keep a close lookout for the Big 5 and the other 100 mammals and the 500 bird species known to live in the park. Lunch will also be eaten at a rest camp in the park and after lunch, the safari continues.
At 4 pm we return to the hotel and settle in for a relaxing evening and perhaps a swim in the lodge pool before dinner.
On the final day in the area, we enter the park again to try catch sight of the animals that we might have missed the previous days. After breakfast, you are transferred to the Skukuza Airport and you will fly to Port Elizabeth for the next leg of your travels. When you arrive in Port Elizabeth, you will be transferred to your accommodation where you will be spending the next two nights.
On this day, you will have the opportunity to spend the whole day exploring the city of Port Elizabeth as you please. There is much to do and see in the city, and the beach offers the perfect place to relax.
At 9:00 am we leave Port Elizabeth and head to the Addo Elephant Park. We stop for lunch, at one of the rest camps, once we reach the park, and check into the accommodation. After we have settled in, it’s time to explore this famous natural habitat. In the comfort of our safari vehicle, we take you on a drive around the park and try to spot the Big 5 and other animals that roam this unique land.
When the day is over, we head back to the hotel to dine on a two-course meal. The meal is prepared by your guide and is enjoyed al fresco in the cool African evening air. While wine will be served with the meal, you are welcome to bring along beverages of your choice.
We wake up early (depending on the season and the times that the gates open) and have a snack of tea or coffee along with rusks (a South African dried biscuit). The morning drive is sround 3 to 4 hours and once the safari is over we return to the camp for a proper hearty breakfast.
During the day we take the scenic route through the incredible coastal forests which the area is well known for. This is the route that is going to take us to the next destination which is Tsitsikamma. On arrival we will eat a delicious lunch and after that, we will spend the afternoon exploring the exquisite forests. These forests are indigenous and very rare. The route will take us down the coast and to beautiful waterfalls. Wildlife, such as the Cape clawless otter, are often spotted in the area.
Arriving back at the accommodation, another divine 2-course meal is waiting and is served al fresco with provided wine.
An early morning hike to look for the beautiful Knysna Turaco starts the day off on an active note and after a quick breakfast, it is time to travel down the Garden Route, past the exquisite lakes, lagoons and coastal towns nestled close to the Outeniqua Mountains. Along the way, we will stop for lunch. This is Blue Crane territory, so we are definitely going to be on the lookout for this rare bird while we travel.
Once we have finished eating lunch we have a unique treat, as we travel to where the African continent sinks into the ocean. This is also an opportunity to spot the Cape Grysbok, the Cape Fur Seals, the Dolphins and the fynbos plants. After an active day, we reach our accommodation for the evening and we watch the sun set over the ocean from the veranda of our cottages.
The meal for the evening is a two-course affair that is prepared by your guide, and as with the other nights, wine is served with dinner but you are welcome to bring your own drinks.
We start the day with a relaxed breakfast and begin our final day on the journey along the Coastal Whale route. This is one of the most beautiful places in South Africa. We stop in Hermanus for lunch and then indulge in a bit of whale spotting as the Southern Right whales visit the area during certain times of the year.
After this, we continue travelling through the region which is well-known for being a fruit and wheat production area. This route takes us through the Overberg and Langeberg regions, taking in the stunning views of False Bay and eventually Table Mountain and Cape Town. We arrive in the city of Cape Town at around 17:00 pm where we drop you off at your accommodation where you will be spending the last 4 days of this expedition.
Each day in Cape Town will be spent doing whatever you please. There are plenty of sights and activities to enjoy in Cape Town and you can visit Table Mountain, Robben Island, and the seal colony or just relax on the beach.
Once you have enjoyed a relaxed breakfast, you will check out of the hotel at around 10:00 am. From the hotel, you will travel to your next destination.
