The White-throated Monitor is a large heavy-bodied lizard with strong limbs and sharp claws, the monitor also has a rounded snout and they are gray-brown with yellow/white markings. The monitor can grow up to 2 meters in length.
They mainly eat beetles, land snails, millipedes and grasshoppers.
The White-throated Monitor can be found in the savanna and the semi-desert districts of the country, they are not in the Western Cape.
They lay between 8 and 51 eggs in the summer depending on the size of the female. The eggs hatch in 110-120 days in captivity but takes much longer to hatch in the wild.
