It has a lightly coloured brown back that grades to straw colour. The throat and chin of the lizard is cream in colour while the body is a greyish-brown. When mating season arrives, a pink colour develops on their throats. They reach lengths of 150 \u2013 200mm in length.<\/p>\n<h2>Diet<\/h2>\n<p>This large lizard feeds on millipedes and insects as well as fruits and flowers.<\/p>\n<h2>Distribution<\/h2>\n<p>The Rough Scaled Plated Lizard can be found in savannah areas of Africa from Togo to Ethiopia, all the way to the South-East and Maputo land.<\/p>\n<h2>Breeding<\/h2>\n<p>The Plated Lizard breeds from August\u00a0 and lays 2 \u2013 6 large oval eggs from October \u2013 November. The eggs are laid in soft soil underneath logs or rocks for protection.
